Southdown Velo TT champs

We had our second ever Southdown Velo time trial championship on Sunday last. Only three starters - Shaun Smart who took first place, Pete McGuiness who took second and penultimate places and Alistair Mallett who was our plucky last.
Pete supplied cycling prizes whilst I supplied bottles of Leffe.

Sportives

Sunday also saw a number of riders take part in the Trailbreaks sportive starting at Petersfield.

John JP Pendleton

Velo Club Noviomagus Riders circa 1964

Taken on the Isle of Wight around 1964. John JP Pendleton was the founder of Southdown Velo which was formed from the Velo Club Noviomagus. Pete Gould was later the Managing Director of Moreys who sponsored the Island's three day race for a number of years.
The Noviomagus jersey was based upon the Italian champion's jersey.
This photograph was supplied by Ann Owens (nee Ellis), now a member of CS Dynamo which is based in Exmouth. Ann was one of the earliest members of VC Noviomagus.
